WCW Investigation: Fauci Resurrected USDA’s Infamous Kitten Tests; Lab Is Alive and Well Under RFK Jr.

  • In 2019, White Coat Waste’s (WCW) blockbuster investigation and campaign shut down the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s infamous Kitten Slaughterhouse, the government’s largest cat laboratory.
  • Now, our latest exposé reveals that those wasteful kitten tests were quietly relocated to a National Institutes of Health (NIH) lab run by Dr. Fauci, where they continue under Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
  • WCW obtained records revealing that cats in this NIH project are still being force-fed “slurry” made from infected mouse brains and isolated for up to three weeks in toxoplasmosis vaccine experiments.
  • The tests are currently scheduled to continue through at least December 31, 2026, putting additional kittens’ lives at risk.
  • While RFK and the NIH’s so-called ‘animal testing czar’ Nicole Kleinstreuer promise they are “working tirelessly” to phase out cruelty, the agency has greenlit nearly $150 million in new funding for dog and cat labs on their watch.
  • WCW recently worked with Congress to slash funding for the NIH’s kitten experiments in its Fiscal Year 2027 spending bill, which still needs to pass the full House and Senate.
  • We’ll keep fighting until taxpayers are no longer forced to bankroll the agency’s addiction to pet torture.

From 2018–2019, White Coat Waste’s (WCW) blockbuster investigation and campaign exposed and ultimately shut down the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) now-infamous Kitten Slaughterhouse, the government’s largest cat laboratory.

The experiments inside this federal facility involved buying dog and cat meat from Chinese wet markets and force-feeding it to kittens before killing and incinerating them.

Now, documents obtained by WCW reveal that after the Trump USDA ended those wasteful cat tests, they were quietly relocated to a National Institutes of Health (NIH) lab overseen by Dr. Anthony Fauci, where they continue today.

In these barbaric experiments — which are funded by the NIH through the end of 2026 — kittens are deliberately infected with toxoplasmosis by being force-fed a “slurry” of brain tissue from diseased mice. White coats mix it with canned cat food to make it more appealing.

The kittens are restrained in cat bags or towels for feeding. Temperamental cats deemed especially difficult to handle are sedated with “kitty magic,” a cocktail of drugs including ketamine.

NIH records warn of the tests’ inherent danger. Cats may inhale regurgitated mouse brain tissue during force-feeding, develop pneumonia, and die.

After being infected with toxoplasmosis, the kittens are isolated in cages for up to 21 days while their feces are collected to monitor disease progression. The pets also undergo blood draws and are implanted with microchips as part of the project.

Once the felines are considered resistant to re-infection, they are made available for adoption — but only after being abused and traumatized by experimenters. Before heading to their new homes, their microchips are removed and wiped to erase any evidence of their time in the NIH’s lab.

While RFK and the NIH’s so-called ‘animal testing czar’ Nicole Kleinstreuer promise they are “working tirelessly” to phase out cruelty, the agency has doled out nearly $150 million in new funding for dog and cat experiments on their watch.

Since the NIH has defiantly doubled down, we recently worked with Congress to include language slashing funding for kitten labs in its Fiscal Year 2027 NIH spending bill, which passed the Appropriations Committee and heads to the House floor next.

WCW’s previous investigations and campaigns eliminated cat testing at the Department of Veterans Affairs and prompted the Department of Defense to ban pet experiments at the Navy and cancel kitten constipation labs.

Now, we’re fighting to ensure that taxpayers are no longer forced to bankroll the NIH’s addiction to animal torture.
