Tell Congress: Pass the KITTEN Act!

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is using your tax dollars to breed hundreds of kittens, force them to eat infected raw meat, and kill and incinerate them for wasteful experiments–all before they’re three-months-old.

Call Congress now and politely urge it to pass the KITTEN Act (HR 5780) to de-fund these experiments. You can find your Representative’s phone number here and suggestions for talking points below.

Here are some talking points for your call:

  • As a constituent, I’m calling to ask [your Representative’s/Senator’s name] to cosponsor the bipartisan KITTEN Act (HR 5780) to end the USDA’s deadly and wasteful experiments on kittens.
  • A USDA laboratory in Beltsville, Maryland breeds up to 100 kittens a year, feeds the 2-month-old kittens parasite-infected raw meat, collects their feces for 2 weeks, and then kills and incinerates the kittens.
  • The USDA kills the kittens even though veterinarians state that they’re healthy and adoptable.
  • The USDA is being sued for hiding details about the experiments from taxpayers and Congress
  • This waste and abuse costs voters $650,000 each year, and taxpayers have been footing the bill for nearly 50 years.
  • In August, the U.S. Senate voted to urge the USDA to end these tests and adopt out the cats.
  • I agree with the 75% of Americans who want to end taxpayer-funded experiments on cats.
