Call for cats: Tell USDA to end kitten tests!

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is using your tax dollars to breed hundreds of kittens, force them to eat infected raw meat, and kill and incinerate them for wasteful experiments–all before they’re three-months-old.

Please call the USDA and politely urge it to stop these experiments and adopt out the surviving cats.

The main number above connects you with the USDA research division’s headquarters, and the alternate number is for the USDA’s dedicated phone line for kitten lab complaints.

Here are some talking points for your call:

  • As a taxpayer, I’m calling to urge the USDA to end its deadly experiments on kittens and adopt out the surviving cats
  • I am disturbed that a USDA laboratory in Beltsville, Maryland breeds up to 100 kittens a year, feeds the 2-month-old kittens parasite-infected raw meat, collects their feces for other experiments, and then kills and incinerates the kittens after 2 weeks even though they’re healthy and adoptable.
  • This waste and abuse costs taxpayers $650,000 each year, and taxpayers have been footing the bill for nearly 50 years.
  • Congress has introduced the bipartisan KITTEN Act to permanently end the USDA’s painful cat testing
