Doped Up Rats

In a project titled, “Development Of A Rat Model Of Cannabis Smoke Self-Administration,” NIH-funded experimenters at the University of Florida lock rats in chambers pumped full of marijuana smoke to measure its effects on their behavior. The chambers are filled with the smoke of five joints every hour. One of their recent studies explains that joints to get the rats high were provided by NIH: “We thank the Drug Supply Program at the National Institute on Drug Abuse for providing the cannabis cigarettes.”
