Mice are terrible “models” for human illnesses. But instead of addressing the root of the problem–wasteful animal experimentation–the National Institutes of Health (NIH) instead decided to add an extra $10 million on to the $12 billion bill it racks up each year on animal experiments by creating new programs to ensure there is “gender” equality in the use mice for experimentation. That’s right, rather than cutting pointless studies, NIH thinks female and males should be tortured in them equally, and we’re forced to pay for it.
